On March 1st, 2010, my friend Walter and I set off on an adventure with my Arabian horse, Sojourner. I rode Soj across America and Walter drove our little truck (with no trailer). The trip began in Los Angeles, California and successfully ended in Bath, New Hampshire 8 months and 14 days later. It was a 3,700 mile ride.

We rode in celebration of family and as an outreach to those dealing with divorce-related depression.

This ride tells a tale of love in many forms - through the people we meet along the way, our connection with the horse, with the land, and with each other.

As this blog goes on it gets more and more in depth with tons of photos and experiences. Snuggle in with a cup of tea and read this like a book. I have switched the blog around so it reads start to finish so you don't have to read backward (except the first entry).

Here is our story...

Video Blog, Magdalena, New Mexico

5/11/10

Hey-just a little note....sorry the volume wasn't working on the video blog I tried to post! Walter is working on it now and we will try to get it up again this afternoon. I only have minutes left in this library but I think we can still get wireless outside later.
The thing is, there are hurricane/tornado/Godzilla/window shattering/scary time winds outside so I don't know how much outside sitting we'll get to do.....

We took today and yesterday off because of these winds, but we'll ride 35 miles tomorrow to Lemitar, NM. I am going to get up super early to feed and plan to be in the saddle by 7 (or maybe 7:30) am.

I hear it's a beautiful stretch of road so we should get some nice photos.
I have some wonderful stories from this sweet little nearly ghost town. There's not a lot here, but the people are wonderful.

I'll write it tonight in the trailer we're staying in and post it in the morning...
We'll get the video up and working tonight, too!

  1. Can one pay extra to get the volume? Kind of like a project I worked on licensing videos. The soundtrack was extra. :)

I'll identify that beautiful snake. Huge, too!

The Very Large Array is really cool. I saw that the other day when I Googled Datil.

    Travel Safe!
