On March 1st, 2010, my friend Walter and I set off on an adventure with my Arabian horse, Sojourner. I rode Soj across America and Walter drove our little truck (with no trailer). The trip began in Los Angeles, California and successfully ended in Bath, New Hampshire 8 months and 14 days later. It was a 3,700 mile ride.

We rode in celebration of family and as an outreach to those dealing with divorce-related depression.

This ride tells a tale of love in many forms - through the people we meet along the way, our connection with the horse, with the land, and with each other.

As this blog goes on it gets more and more in depth with tons of photos and experiences. Snuggle in with a cup of tea and read this like a book. I have switched the blog around so it reads start to finish so you don't have to read backward (except the first entry).

Here is our story...

Cheese-just a quick little note....

5/27/10

I just cut a slice off of a baguette, grilled it in butter, spread a thin layer of this Pesto 'n' Pine nuts goat cheese on it and then on top of that, a thin layer of Bonne Maman mixed berry jam and VOILA! Delicious.
With that we are having a cup of "Jump Start" made by echo espresso roasters that Mary gave us from Alpine Alley as a gift on our way out. It's dark and rich and delicious. I was so thrilled when Walter pulled up with this treat from Mary.
These two things are perfection in the mouth. :)

This wonderful man came into Alpine Alley while we were there a week back and handed me this carton of his cheese. We only just now cracked into it, and this is something I will have shipped to me once I get home to NH! It's so fantastically good!!

As some of you know, Scalt and I dream of having a cafe/leather shop...more of a breakfast place with baked goods and fine teas, coffee, and espresso (maybe some smoothies) for the rest of the day. This would have to be in the cafe!

This is a miniature version of what made the cheese. This baby is a day old and the owner of the dairy farm brought her in to say hello to the guests at the Alley.
